THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING NARRATIVE PARAGRAPH IN TERM OF GENERIC STRUCTURE AT MAN SAMPIT

How do the students’ ability in writing narrative paragraph in term of generic structure? The objective of this study is to investigate the students’ ability in writing narrative paragraph in term of generic structure at eleventh grade of MAN
Sampit.
In this study, writer used descriptive quantitative. The writer got the data by using writing test. After getting the data the writer measured students’ ability in writing narrative paragraph in term of generic structure by the calculating of mean, median and modus of students’ score.
The subject of this study was eleventh grade students of XI- A2 class at MAN Sampit, consist of 31 students but only 21 students became the subject of this study because this study used purposive sampling.
The result of this study, as follow: (1) how do the students’ ability in writing narrative paragraph in term of generic structure are shown as follow: The students’ high score was 24 and the students’ lowest score was 14. There were five students got good score, fourteen students got fair to poor score, and two students got very poor score. the result of the calculation of mean value of the students writing narrative paragraph in term of generic structure is 19.8571, the median value of the students writing narrative paragraph in term of generic structure is 20 and modus value is 20.The students knew about the generic structure narrative paragraph, although there were some students did not know about the generic structure of narrative paragraph such as: orientation, complication and resolution.
